As a lifelong fan of mystery novels, I chose to design a book cover for Agatha Christie's Sleeping Murder as a personal project. I wanted to do a more modern take on the cover, something that might catch the eye of young-adult readers today while still fitting the essence of Christie's work. The illustration, color palette, and typographic elements were chosen with this in mind. The combination of serif and sans-serif fonts along with the hand-written cursive of the author's name was done to create a balance of modernity and traditionalism, something I also hoped to achieve with the cross-hatching in the illustration and the cover's monochrome color palette.
